Engen's specialists have ensured the launch of the second stage of the power center of an electrolytic copper refining plant in the Chelyabinsk Region. The uniqueness of this project lies in the fact that, since 2022, all domestic companies have faced new market conditions requiring independent software development and commissioning activities.
Industrial enterprises often have no alternative means to provide themselves with electricity. Constructing their own power generation facilities proves to be a more cost-effective solution, and Engen LLC specializes in delivering such turnkey projects. Putting into operation the second stage of the power center was required by the development of production and opening of new workshops. The total electrical capacity of the second stage is 8.6 MW.
The second stage project was implemented on the basis of foreign equipment of the MWM brand, which was delivered before imposing economic sanctions against Russia. During the implementation, issues arose related to the inability to adhere to standard outsourcing procedures. Earlier, all generating sets and automation control equipment were supplied as a set in accordance with contracts signed. In the current situation, Engen LLC faced two primary tasks: first, to develop software, and second, to commission the entire power complex using the existing equipment.

The set goals had to be achieved solely through in-house efforts. Under standard conditions, training could have been conducted with a foreign vendor to gain hands-on production experience; however, in this project, Engen independently executed all stages of the work – from training highly specialized personnel to software import substitution and commissioning of imported equipment.
The clear advantages of this approach for the customer included ergonomics, ease of task execution by operators, and enhanced workplace comfort for personnel.
“With our experience in software development, we can offer our clients another service that no one else on the market could offer before. Having gained this experience and knowledge, we acquired the ability to regulate the operation of equipment at other sites, including Chinese-made equipment,” says Alexander Korendiasev, Head of Сommissionning Operations. “The import substitution situation taught us that we must be able to do everything independently. The less we depend on outsourcing, the more stable and clear our internal processes will be.”
